Ex-International Makes Case For Rohr
Nigeria Ex-International, Onengiye Bongilli, has appealed to Nigerians and the authorities to be patient with the Head Coach of Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr.
He stated that sacking the coach would not do good to the country’s football right now.
Bongili made the appeal in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, yesterday in Port Harcourt.
According to him, what Rohr is doing right now is rebuilding process, adding that rebuilding to get a formidable team is not a day’s job.
“I am not in support of sacking Rohr because many of our good players are retiring from international football.
What is happening in the national team today is worrisome but to me, Rohr is in the right direction, let Nigerians have little patience with him.
Players like Victor Moses, Mikel Obi, and others just retired recently,” Bongilli said.
The call for Rohr’s sack from some quarters was due to the Super Eagles unimpressive performance in recent games, mostly the home and away draw they played with Sierra Leone in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
