CAFCC: Rivers United Departs For Equatorial Guinea, Today

One of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, will depart for Equatorial Guinea for the first leg of their preliminary round of the competition against Futuro Kings, today.
United is expected to depart for the city of Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea via a chartered flight.
Futuro de Mongomo Stadium Mongomo, is slated to host the encounter, at 4pm local time (4pm Nigeria time) while the return will take place in Port Harcourt next week.
This was contained in a statement signed by the media officer of the club, Charles Mayuku and made available to Tidesports, yesterday.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of Rivers United, Okey Kpalukwu, has expressed optimism that his side will secure victory, following support from the State Government and the winning mentality that the players have exhibited in recent times.
“I want to thank our number one supporter, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his tremendous support in ensuring that all we need is provided. I thank the Commissioner for Sports, Hon Boma Iyaye and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Sir Honour Sirawoo, for their immense support.”
“I am excited by the spirit of the players and their sense of dedication and commitment. We have shown overtime that we can get the job done. Our mission is going there and getting a decent result. We want to make the second leg as easy as possible for us” Kpalukwu said
