‘Poor Funding Hinders Dev Of Other Sports’

The Chairman of Hockey Association of Nigeria (HAN) in Rivers State, Barrister Golden Tamuno, has said that lack of adequate funding is the bane of the development of other sports in the country.
He expressed sadness that much attention is not given to other sports, except football.
Barrister Tamuno, said this in a telephone interview with Tidesports, saying that he believed that the State governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike will give attention to other sports.
According to him, should there be an adequate funding of other sports, athletes will make the State and Nigeria at large proud.
“I believe strongly that this present administration led by Governor Wike will give attention to other sports in the state.
Other sports are not properly funded except football,” Tamuno said.
He used the forum to commend the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covin-19 for lifting ban on sporting activities, adding that the pandemic has caused damage in the sporting industry.
“I believe that it will take time before players will get back to their peak,” he explained.
