OML 25 : Stakeholders Call For FG’s Intervention To Avert Crisis In Rivers Community
Stakeholders in Kula Community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, are calling for the intervention of the Federal Government to save the community from another round of crisis on the issue of OML 25.
The stakeholders who said this at a press briefing in Port Harcourt said the issue of re-entry into the OML-25 must never be allowed to lead to another round of crisis.
The text for the briefing which was read by the spokesperson of Kula Council of Traditional Rulers, Alabo Engr. Fiala Okoye Davies particularly pointed an accusing finger at the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) for making moves to reenter the OML-25 without the implementation of agreement reached with the community.
“It is interesting to note that while our position regarding our confidence in the Federal Government to resolve the issues remain sacrosanct, we are minded to warn against various tactics and antics of SPDC to cause confusion and crisis again in our peaceful Kula Kingdom.
“We wish to make this clarion call on the Federal Government and security agencies to prevail on SPDC to desist from whatever alliance with some renegade of Kula Kingdom and ensure a conclusion of the on-going discussion with the Federal Government and Belema Oil on behalf of the communities for the re-entry of OML-25.”
The stakeholder commended Governor Nyesom Wike and president Muhammadu Buhari for their tireless effort towards the resolution of the OML-25 issues.
