The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has assured that the ongoing strike embarked upon by PTAD, Tanker Drivers in Lagos has nothing to do with the flow or supply of petroleum products in Rivers State.
The National Treasurer of NUPENG, Alex Agwanwor, told newsmen, in Port Harcourt, yesterday, that all the loading bays and depots were fully functional, adding that truck drivers who have distribution or haulage to do were going about their normal businesses in Rivers State, as the strike only affects drivers in Lagos who are protesting the incessant harassment and extortion by various security agents in the state.
He said the strike for now is only a Lagos State branch affairs and has nothing to do with other state branches.
Agwanwor noted that all tanker drivers in Rivers State were aware that there was no industrial action against any government or group in the state, and as such, were going about their normal businesses.
He also urged the public not to get involved in panic buying of any sort as enough PMS, diesel and Kerosene were available at various retail outlets across the state.
