RSG Commences ICT Training

The Senior  Special Assistant and Lead Consultant  to the Rivers State Governor on Information, Communications and Technology  (ICT), Mr Ibifuro Asawo, has charged the 6th batch of trainees in ICT courses, organised by the Rivers State Government to make the most use of this opportunity and get the skills that would establish them in life.
Speaking during the batch 6 orientation, Mr Asawo disclosed that the programme, would run for three-months, after which all trainees will commence a three month internship.
He also noted that all the local government chairmen were requested to nominate minimum of 100 persons from their LGAs to participate in the training.
The trainees who are a cluster of youths from within  the 23 Local Government Areas of the State were advised not to make money a priority, stressing that money is a by-product of hard work.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has come to show us that without the use of technology, there are much limitations to mankind. This is the kind of exposure we want to give to this young people, that after three months of learning and three months of internship, they will be well equipped to survive in the 21st century.”
He said that the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Wike, was looking beyond the physical infrastructure, and had decided to focus on the development of human capacity.
“What His Excellency Barr Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State is trying to achieve is to ensure that young people of the State are trained and well equipped with the skill they require to be established,” he noted.
Asawo also added that the value these trainees will add to the State will be enormous, as they will inturn train other people and help in the development of e-governance.
He further noted that out of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State, 14 L.G.A’s were  represented while 9 were absent.
Those absent are A bus Abua, Akuku-Toru, Andoni, Eleme, Tai, Khana, Degema, Ogi Bolo and Omuma.
