Obasanjo Under Fire Over Comments On Kashamu’s Death
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has come under fire over the condolence letter he wrote to mourn the late Ogun East former Senator, Buruji Kashamu.
In the letter which went viral, Obasanjo claimed that Kashamu used the maneuver of law and politics to escape justice from alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside.
According to Obasanjo, Kashamu could not escape death as no legal or political maneuvre could stop the cold hand of death.
But Obasanjo’s comment appears to have angered many Nigerians, who attacked him on the social media, telling him that he too cannot escape death.
Nigerians called out the octogenarian, accusing him of showing hatred towards the dead.
Many were of the belief that Obasanjo should have not said those words about the dead, as everybody will die one day, no matter how long.
Those who commented include:
Muhd Sani: “Even those who face justice die, you only have a score to settle with the deceased, Baba, but it is better to have said nothing since the man is no more.”
Bonaventure Chidozie: “Obasanjo is also avoiding justice by using the same techniques, but he won’t escape death.”
Tope Fadahunsi: “This baba has come again to be talking as if he was a saint. Bribing National Assembly members to influence a satanic third term agenda was corruption too. Petty man!”
Frank Uwagbor: “Really, I thought OBJ didn’t send that condolences when I first read it. Kai even in death OBJ couldn’t forgive him.”
Bukie Adefe: “I am sorry, why is it that we still find heartless people among our elders who have also lost value for Yoruba culture. I am not a politician nor related with the departed soul but the statement is uncalled for.”
