Rivers PDP Chairmanship: Monarch Hails Akawor’s Emergence

The Eze Ala Umuokobo and Paramount Ruler of Obete Ndoki in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Peter Ubadineke Umenta, has said that the best decision taken by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the endorsement and subsequent election of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as its party chairman.
Eze Umenta who made the remarks while speaking to newsmen at his palace in Oyigbo said by this development, members of PDP have demonstrated that are people of one family who know the capability and experience of each member that can steer the ship to its destination, stressing that the collective choice of Amb Akawor to lead them at this auspicious time was a step taken in the right direction.
He said Amb Akawor’s successful political career which was anchored on honesty, sincerity and dedication to his official assignments began when he held several positions, including the General Manager, Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, Executive Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Commissioner for Water Resources, Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and later Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Kotea as well as Sole Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority before his emergence as the current state PDP chairman.
While congratulating him on these achievements, the monarch also lauded Governor Nyesom Wike, who is the leader of the party, of his administrative prowess in galvanizing efforts to stabilize the party as well as repositioning the state to attain enviable heights.
