NYSC Joins RSG To Combat COVID-19 …Presents Preventive Kits To Govt

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the dreaded coronavirus in Rivers State, management of the Rivers State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has donated home-made kits to the state government.
Receiving the gifts in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo thanked the corps members for their magnanimity in supporting the government and ingenuity to produce the hand sanitisers, liquid soap and face masks.
“I taught that all corps members had returned home. I am happy that some of you are still around to support the government overcome the pandemic”, he said.
He emphasised that the gifts would greatly assist the government in its preventive measures against COVID-19.
He urged the management of the NYSC and the general public to continue to abide by the approved safety measures from WHO and the government to enable the country overcome the pandemic quickly.
Earlier, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Chinwendu Chukwu said the preventive kits were produced by corps members under the SARD project.
He said the NYSC is determined to continue in its support to enable the country overcome the COVID-19 as quickly as possible.
He recalled that because of the disease the NYSC orientation camp was abruptly called off in support to the state government’s efforts.
Hand sanitizers, face masks and liquid soap were presented to the government.
Also present at the presentation were the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Fred Kpakol and LGA Chairmen.
