Lockdown: CD Wants CSOs, Others To Be Involved In Palliatives Distribution
The Campaign for Democracy (CD) yesterday urged Niger Government to involve Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other interest groups in the distribution of palliatives to the people of the state.
Alhaji Abdullahi Jabi, National Secretary General, CD, North Central zone, made the suggestion in an interview with newsmen in Minna.
Jab said that the idea by the state government to distribute palliatives to the people to cushion the effect of the lockdown was commendable but there was the need to make it transparent.
He said that by involving interest groups such as the CSOs, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), religious bodies, National Union of Road Transport Workers, students and youth organisations, the palliatives would reach the most vulnerable in the society.
The CD scribe alleged that those saddled with it before now were not transparent with the exercise, resulting in some wards not getting the food items.
“If the state government wants to be transparent in the distribution of palliatives to the people, it must involve the civil society and other interest groups.
