Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaewhule, has made a plea to the Federal Government to assist to bolster efforts of the Chief Nyesom  Wike-led administration in curbing the menace of COVID-19 in the state.
Speaking to newsmen at the weekend, Amaewhule frowned at the failure of the Federal Government to provide assistance to the state despite the effort being made by the state government to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawmaker noted that Rivers State, just like Lagos State was a strategic state as it hosts most of the major oil multinationals that generate revenue to the Federal Government.
He therefore, submitted that the arrest of the Caverton Helicopters pilots and closure of the company was an action aimed at protecting the state from being vulnerable to infection and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amaewhule commended the efforts of the Wike-led government in making sure that the state and citizens remained safe during the pandemic.
