COVID-19: RSG Lauds PHED Over Donation Of Foodstuffs

The Rivers State Government has lauded the management of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company Plc, PHED, over its kind gesture to donate a trailer load of rice as its contribution in cushioning the the effects of the corona virus  pandemic in Rivers State.
The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo who addressed news men while receiving the foodstuffs alongside the Hon Commissioner for information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt, urged other corporate organizations to demonstrate their good will and contributions towards the alleviation of the plight of the people during this period corona virus pandemic.
He said Governor Nyesom Wike has demonstrated great capabilities in containing the corona virus pandemic in Rivers state and assured the commitment of the Rivers state government is protecting the interest of River people in the face of glaring challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his response, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, PHED, Dr. Henry Ajagbawa said the gesture was part of the social responsibilities of the company to cushion the effect of the stay at home directive arising from the COVID-19 pandemic threatening the existent of humanity.
He extolled the pragmatic approach the Rivers state Governor and other governors within its catchment area in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in order to save the lives of their people and those doing business in the states, noting that the initiative was highly commendable.
Dr. Ajagbawa also commended the Governors for the restriction of movement in their various states as a way of flattening the curve of the life threatening scourge ravaging the whole world. This he said projected them as born leaders who have the interest of their people at heart.
”Your Excellencies,” the MD/CEO continued, “We wish to state unequivocally that PHED as an essential service provider, will support you by ensuring that power supply received from the national grid shall be distributed to all homes to enable residents feel comfortable while observing the stay at home directive.
