The leader, United Youths for Progressive Nasarawa, Mr Yahaya Abdurahman, on Wednesday urged the Committee investigating  alleged misappropriation of N1 billion schools renovation contracts to work in line with the law.
Abdurahman gave this advice while addressing newsmen on the probe by Ad-hoc Committee set up by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly in Lafia.
Our source reports that contracts for the renovation of primary and secondary schools across the  state were awarded to the tune of over N1 billion in 2018, when the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aliyu Tijjani-Ahmed, was the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology.
According to him, the ad-hoc committee should carry out the probe within the limits provided by the law.
“The actions of some people over the probe  leaves one with the conclusion that there is ulterior motive that has so much to do with political undertone.
“It is our humble view that any genuine concern should respect the constitution by allowing the State Assembly’s Ad-hoc Committee to carry out its function without any pressure or undue interference.
“Nasarawa State House of Assembly should judiciously and without fear or favour, act on this matter within limits provided by law in the collective interest of the state,” he said.
Abdulrahman said the Youth Association strongly advocate for probity, accountability and transparency in government and private dealings but would not accept any act of unjust mudslinging.
He therefore, said that the residents should remain calm and focus to ensure sanity in the system, adding that people should not dance to the tune of those seeking to over heat the polity.
Recall that the State House of Assembly had on March 17, inaugurated an Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the over N1 billion secondary schools renovation contracts awarded by the present  SSG when he served as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in the state.
