RSG, NCDMB Partner To Boost Vocation Dev In Rivers
The Rivers State Government is to collaborate with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to develop vocational and technical education in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof Kaniye Ebeku made the plans public when he played host to the Director of Capacity Building of NCDMB, Dr. Ama Ikuru, in his office yesterday in Port Harcourt.
Ebeku commended the agency on the proposed collaboration with the Rivers State Government, as he emphasized that vocational educational was necessary in human capacity building and the building of a self-reliant youth community.
Expressing the readiness of the Rivers State Government in partnering with any agency that supports its vision of improving the well-being of Rivers people, Ebeku said that the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration was bent on empowering young people with skills.
Earlier, the Director of Capacity Building of NCDMB, Dr. Ama Ikuru, had assured that the collaboration was designed to support all efforts of the state government in improving technical and vocational education.
Ikuru revealed that the board currently intends to train teachers of vocational institutions, construct and equip facilities in the Government Technical College, Port Harcourt.
Shortly after the visit, Prof Kaniye Ebeku led officials of the Nigerian Content Board to the Port Harcourt Technical and Vocational Centre for inspection of the facilities there.
