PDP Set To Release Guidelines For Ondo, Edo Primaries
The Peoples Democratic Party is expected to release its guidelines for the governorship primary elections in Edo and Ondo States this week.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had since released the timetable for the primary elections in the two states.
The Edo governorship poll holds in September while the Ondo version takes place in October.
According to INEC, the primary elections will hold in Edo and Ondo states in June and July respectively.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, told our source in Abuja that the party had been working on their guidelines for primaries.
Ologbondiyan said, “We will work on it based on INEC timetable. The timetable will be our own guide. We will work out our own on the basis of the INEC timetable. We will release it maybe next week (this week).”
The PDP National Working Committee during its 89th emergency meeting had said the party would conduct credible, free, fair and transparent congresses in 26 states.
Ologbondiyan said, “The irreducible parameters to conduct our congresses will be the presidential primary in Port Harcourt. Under the present leadership, we have tried as much as we can to ensure transparency in the conduct of our primaries. So we are not going to shift from that.”
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said during the 89th PDP National Executive Committee meeting the process for the conduct of the congresses in 26 states was ongoing, promising that they would come out stronger and more united.
