COVID-19: Group Donates Food Items To Women In PH
As part of measures to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus (COVID -19), The Commonwealth Businesswomen Nigeria (CBWN) in collaboration with Uplifting Women Through Farming (UWTF) and The Uplifting Youths Through Agriculture (UYOTA), have donted food item worth N100, 000 to about 60 weomen in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
The Founder of Altar of Jesus Intervention Ministry, Ijeoma Osuji, who coordinated the programme, said the move was to ensure that women were not in lack as the stay at home order continues.
Osuji noted that the event was also aimed at strengthening the Commonwealth through building businesses and advancing women under one platform in Nigeria.
According to her, the group was well structured, adding that it has able and upright women within the networks and grassroots .
The cleric pointednout that one of their strategies was its connection with governments and private sector in terms of business activities.
She further explained that women need economic empowerment, due to the role they play in the society.
“It is our pleasure to support the community at this moment of need. The Pandemic Coronavirus has attacked China and other countries, and now sipped into Nigeria”, she said.
In compliance with the Government’s directives, she called on the women to ensure that the orders were strictly adhered as good ambassadors of Christ.
