As the Nigerian Institute of Building gets ready to celebrate the Builders’ Day in Rivers State, the institute has urged developers to engage professionals in building construction.
The secretary of the institute in Rivers State, Builder Usenobong Emmanuel Atangaedi said the Builders’ Day is set aside by the Nigerian Institute Of Building NIOB to create public awareness and bring to the consciousness of policy makers, developers, artisans and the general public the dangers of incessant building in Nigeria.
Usenobong noted that the incessant building collapse was as a result of not engaging registered builders whose statutory responsibilities include managing building construction projects.
He warned the public not to patronise quacks, “Quacks are always engaged by developers to handle building construction projects.”
According to him, “enough of loss of human lives through building collapse.
“Engage professional builders, builders are specialists”, he said.
