Following the rising cases of insecurity in communities across Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, a youth leader, Hon. Amon Nkpon Ijongama, has called for a stakeholders summit on security in the area.
Ijongama who is also the President of Obolo Youth Coalition told newsmen at a media briefing in Port Harcourt that communities in Andoni were living in fear following the rising spate of insecurity in the area.
The youth leader particularly regretted the alleged silence of the Andoni political class on the spate of insecurity in Andoni and called on them to rise up and show concern on the threat to lives of their people.
The youth activist particularly criticised the Andoni Local Government Council for its alleged silence over the maiming and killings by hoodlums in the area, regretting that the council chairman and his councillors were yet to speak out against the activities of hoodlums in the area.
He condemned the recent exchange of gunfire between the police and hoodlums along the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Unity Road which led to the death of one Dr Patricia Obomanu, the Principal of Community Secondary School, Nkoro.
Ijongama also condemned the recent attack on the medical doctor in charge of Ngo General Hospital, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area as well as the looting of the constituency office of the federal lawmaker representing Andoni/Opobo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
He used the occasion to call on the chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Paul Lawrence Paul to partner with his Opobo/Nkoro counterpart to ensure security along the Ogoni-Andoni/Opobo Unity Road.
