As part of the quest to reposition the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA), a new programme tagged “The Big Step” has been unveiled by the agency.
Director General of the RSTDA, Mr. Yibo Koko gave the hint while speaking in a current affairs program organised by Silverbird Communications at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Mr. Koko explained that the project formed part of the new mandate given to it by the Governor Wike led administration to revive tourism and position the state as hub of hospitality and entertainment in the Niger Delta.
The new scheme he further posited was to be driven through what he called, “ Low Hanging Fruit” method such that those common features and culture, in the 23 local government areas will be shown to the world.
The project is to last into the third quarter of the year as he enjoined youths, artistes, and the media to buy into the programme.
“ All over the state we have iconic photographs and sites. So we are beginning with those positive sides about us to show to the world, “ Koko declared.
The agency also plans to organise a tourism conference that would engage stakeholders, this he said will help form a template to showcase the tourism potentials of the state.
Koko emphasised the need to put in place a tourism infrastructure that would sustain future policies and programmes as a way to attract investors.
