Ritual Murder: Court Delivers Judgement On Ifeanyi Dike, April 30

Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the High Court in Port Harcourt has fixed April 30, 2020, for judgment on the murder case of late Victory Chikamso Onwuamaegbu, who was allegedly murdered and dismembered by a suspected ritual killer, one Ifeanyi Maxwell Dike.
Justice Enebeli gave the date after counsels in the matter adopted their final written addresses in court, last week.
The incident happened in Rumuodara area of Port Harcourt three years ago.
Our correspondent reports that three men in the matter, Ifeanyi Maxwell Dike is alleged to have killed the eight-year-old girl and removed her private parts, while the second accused person, Ugochukwu Nwamiro is alleged to be the body parts agent while the third accused person, an ex-police sergeant, Johnbosco Okoroeze, allegedly allowed Ifeanyi Maxwell Dike to escape from police custody while taking his statement.
Counsel to the state, Chidi Ekeh urged the court to delivered judgment against the accused as charged because they all participated in the various crimes.
On his part, counsel to Ifeanyi Maxwell Dike, Barrister Lezina Amegwa, argued that though his client admitted killing the eight-year-old girl, the court should consider his mental state because he was allegedly insane.
Also, counsel to ex-police sergeant, Johnbosco Okoroeze, Barrister Bekwe Chikwele, said he filed a case of not guilty for his client because his was innocent of the charges against him.
It would be recalled that the case was charged to court on January 12, 2018, after the 1st defendant was rearrested in Plateau State after escaping at the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) during interrogation by ex-sergeant, Johnbosco Okoroeze.
