LG Boss Urges Nigerians To Tackle Insecurity
The Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Victor Erasmus, has called on Nigerians to holistically approach internal security challenges.
He stated that the prevailing security situation needs serious attention, saying that the problem has forced the military to digress from its primary functions and attend to internal security matters.
Hon. Erasmus said this in an exclusive interview with The Tide, over the weekend, in his office, at Ogu, the council headquarters.
He used the forum to call for state policing to tackle internal security issues in the country.
“Security seems not to be improving in this country, the whole country has security challenges, and everywhere you have one security challenge or the other.
These security challenges bring agitations by Nigerians to secure themselves”, “Hon. Erasmus said.
According to him, military men are not trained for internal crisis, adding that the police are also not trained for battles.
“The military are not trained for internal security crisis and Police is not for physical battles, but now what we are seeing in this country is like we are in war and it is surprising,” he stated.
He also urged all Nigerians to sit down and plan on how to tackle head on this ugly trend.
