Executive, Legislative Arms More Corrupt Than Judiciary -Wike

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has accused the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government in Nigeria of being more corrupt than the Judiciary.
The governor stated this last Thursday when the President of Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
He said that the Judiciary was vital in the sustenance of democracy and urged judges in the country not to allow themselves to be intimidated by either the legislative or executive arm.
Wike regretted that instead of accepting the blame, the lawmakers and members of the executive turn round to accuse the Judiciary, especially the judges of being more corrupt.
He charged the Judges to stand their ground in dispensing Justice to the people according to the oath they took and not to allow themselves to be cowed.
The President of Court of Appeal in Nigeria, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa said she was in the state as part of the process for her to bow out of the Court, having attained the retirement age.
Bulkachuwa commended Governor Wike for remodeling and upgrading the accommodation for Appeal Cout judges.
After a valedictory court session on Friday, the Rivers State Government treated the retiring President of Appeal Court of Nigeria to a state banquet.
While in the state, Bulkachuwa commissioned the Quarters for Appeal Court judges developed by Wike’s administration.
Governor Wike, last week, told political gladiators and his associates nursing the ambition to be governors of the state not to bank on his support as he would not impose a governor on the state.
The governor who stated this last Saturday when the people and leaders of Oyigbo Local Government Area paid him a solidarity visit in Government House, Port Harcourt advised those with gubernatorial ambition to try their best to sell themselves to the people of Rivers State who have the mandate.
He further clarified that all the ethnic nationalities in the state have equal stake on the governorship position in the state.
He also declared that there would be no automatic ticket for a second term for any of the 23 local government council chairmen, noting that it would be determined by their level of performance and acceptance by the people.
