Ex-Commissioner Hails Wike On Gender-Friendly Leadership

The former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Rivers State, Hon Nancy Nwankwo says women in the state would ever be grateful to Governor Nyesom Wike, for according them rightful place in governance.
Nwankwo, a prominent women leader in the state said that the gender-friendly leadership of the governor has given women in the state reason to celebrate.
She stated this during a function held recently in Government House, Port Harcourt.
“Aside Governor Wike’s administration, no other administration in the state has ever accorded women their rightful place both in elective and appointment positions.
“We now have women councillors, vice chairpersons, Commissioners, Special Advisers, courtesy of Gov Wike-led administration. Many more thanks to Mr Quality Projects and women-friendly governor”, she said.
She noted that the people of Oyigbo decided to pay a thank- you visit to the governor as other ethnic nationalities in the state did to appreciate him for all he had done for the people of the area.
“His superlative performance also informed our collective decision to visit Government House.
“The large turn out of women in their colourful attires shows that Oyigbo people are elated with the achievements of the Governor in terms of projects executed in the area as well as appointments to sons and daughters of Oyigbo Local Government Area,” she said.
The former commissioner lauded Governor Wike for announcing the award of Oyigbo-Afam Road project and said it would improve the socio-economic life of the people.
She also commended Governor Wike for ack nowdging the death of late Chijioke Asonwa, who was gunned down during the last election by soldiers.
According to her, “ the announcement has given those of us who believe in him, more reason to believe in New Rivers Vision.
“ PDP leadership in Oyigbo led by the likes of Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Hon Felix Nwaeke and Hon Dike Chisom remains grateful to the Rivers State Chief Executive and we assure him of our unalloyed support”.
