Director Commends Nigerian Lifters Over Performance At Championships
Technical Director, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), Christopher Nwadei, has commended Nigerian female lifters for their superlative performance at the 6th International Solidarity Championships in Uzbekistan.
Nwadei said this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja yesterday.
He said that Nigeria won nine medals to place fourth out of the 40 countries that took part at the Championships.
Nwadei said three female lifters won medals at the championship to make the federation and the country proud.
“I was excited with their performance at the championships, our target was to win as many medals as possible and they did that.
“One of the lifters, Adenike Olarinoye, 55 kg, emerged best female lifter at the championship and she was given an award.
“Our team placed fourth out of 40 countries that took part, we thanked God for what we got at the 6th International Solidarity Weightlifting Championships,” he said.
He named the medallists as Augstina Nwaokolo, 49 kg, three bronze medals, Adenike Olarinoye, 55 kg, three gold medals and Rafiatu Lawal, 59 kg, three gold medals.
“Our lifters have always been doing well whenever they participate in international championships, they have made the federation and the country proud again,” he said.
The Championships took place between the eighth and 15th of this monthin Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
