A cooperative organisation in Rivers State
A cooperative organisation in Rivers State, Matrixx Cooperative, in collaboration with the United Nations, has concluded plans to empower 200 million Nigerians through a “SWISS-INDO” salary for life programme.
The programme which is powered by Switzerland and Indonesia governments under the United Nations Monthly Salary For Life Grants, is meant to empower and build the capacity of both adults and youths in the country.
The state project coordinator of the programme, Dr. Larry Ajiola, told The Tide in an exclusive interview in Port Harcourt that adults between the ages of 26 and 60 years would be empowered monthly with $1,200 while the youths between 18 and 25 years would receive monthly grant of $600.
Dr. Ajiola who is also the President of Matrixx Cooperative in the state, said skeletal registration has commenced at the cooperative office, adding that full registration would be at the enlightenment programme on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
He explained that the project is aimed at helping Nigerians to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as improving the living standard of the people.
The Assistant Project Coordinator of the programme, Mr Olumide Aghominukanse, said the cooperative has been mandated to cover the South South registration, expressing hope that the grant may come before the end of the first quarter of 2020.
He assured that the programme would alleviate poverty from many Nigerians.
