A political pressure group, Isoko Republican Assembly (IRA), has called on the people of Isoko and the Ijaw ethnic nationalities in Delta State to respect the zoning arrangement in the state for 2023 governorship position.
President of IRA, Gift Amawho made the call at the weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, saying the zoning between Delta Central, Delta South, and Delta North still stands.
He said there had been some  clandestine moves and comments aimed at undermining the zoning formula as regards 2023 governorship of Delta State.
Amawho explained that, “ Chief Onanefe James Ibori from Delta Central served out a double tenure of eight years, then, Dr Emmanuel Uduagha of Delta South took over and also served out a double tenure of eight years, making way for Dr Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta North.
“Equity and natural Justice demands that the serving Governor, Dr Okowa from Delta North should hand over to somebody from Delta Central District in 2023.
“Anyone trying to trauncate the zoning arrangement doesn’t mean well for the state”, the IRA president said.
He said in as much as Isoko agitates for better placement in the scheme of things in the state, they should know that they have only two local government areas, hence should rather support Delta Central in 2023 to produce a governor.
The president warned them against jeopardising the zoning to avoid unpleasant consequences and advised that they should be patient.
