Woji’s Chieftaincy Tussle: Monarch Fingers Police

Part of chieftaincy issues in Woji Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have been blamed on the activities of some men and officers of the Woji Police Station.
This was the observation of King (Dr) Leslie Eke , Nyerisi Eli Woji , when the new Deputy Police Officer (DPO) , in charge of the Woji Police Station, C.S.P Lucky Omoni paid him a courtesy call at his residence in Woji community.
Eze Eke was of the view that the Police should be more professional in their duties and hands off chieftaincy matters.
The Eze Gbakagbaka, said if the police must venture into such projects, they must first and foremost, dig well into the people’s culture and tradition for proper guide.
The Eze Evo III, noted that the police have a core constitutional mandate to provide security and should concern themselves with such, if they are ready to make any head way.
According to him, some self-acclaimed chiefs within the area, use the police to guide illegality, and added that such was an anomaly.
“Some people here use police to guide illegality, that is why I said that your station is not being fair to us. It takes two to tango, how can I be the Royal Majesty and at the same time have a Royal Highness in Woji? That does not make sense, ” he said.
As he assured the Woji DPO of peace, he said it was in collaboration with Governor Nyesom Wike’s insistence on peaceful coexistence at all quarters of the state.
The General Secretary, Association of Niger Delta Monarchs of Nigeria (ANMON), also pointed out that he was disposed to peace, and added that it was part of the reasons why Woji has been peaceful.

About the issue of community policing as requested by the visitor, he assured of considering the plea after a thorough probing into the circumstances that surrounded it.
Meanwhile, the C.S. P Omoniy , had promised to keep close to the Nyerisi Eli Woji/ Eze Gbakagbaka in his bid to deliver credibly as a security expert.
