RSG Hints Of Revamping Songhai, Fish Farms

The Rivers State Government has hinted of its plan to revamp the Songhai and Fish farms.
It also plans to drive its new agriculture policy with the School to Land Programme so as to beef up agro production in the state.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Magnus Kpakol, gave the indication earlier this week during a meet the staff session at Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt.
Kpakol stated that the new plan will be backed with a soft loan to farmers across the state.
He said, “there is a paradigm shift and so we will engage rural and modern farmers to delve into large scale rice and fish production.”
The commissioner explained that the new vigour is aimed at making the stare the food hub of the nation, and therefore, enlisted the support of staffers to make the NEW Rivers Vision a reality.
To succeed in the new task, he urged staff of the ministry to see themselves as drivers of the process, insisting that hardwork remains a way to achieve the task ahead.
Kpakol harped on the new for staff to desist from collecting illegal revenue in the name of the ministry, warning that penalties will follow defaulters.
Responding on behalf of staffers, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Kindness Egbelu reiterated staff commitment and unalloyed support in achieving the task ahead.
Some staffers, who spoke intimated the commissioner of their handicaps at work, and pleaded for his assistance to achieve efficiency at work.
