Police Secure 40 Convictions, Lose Five Officers In Rivers

The Rivers State Police command says it secured 40 convictions and lost five officers in 2019.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni  disclosed this in an interview with news men in office in Port Harcourt, Monday on the activities of the command year.
Omoni said the forty convictions secured by the Command were among the over four criminal cases the Command charged to court last year and added that in the year under review ,a total of six officers from the Command were dismissed due to some degrees of unprofessional conducts displayed by the affected officers during their service in the force.
The Rivers Police spokesperson also hinted that the Command within the period under review recovered cache of arms and ammunitions adding that the police fought crime and other criminal activities in the state with vigour and commitment.
According to him, cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers were arrested in their numbers across the state while keeping a robust surveillance patrol and intelligence in all parts of the state.
He assured that the police will continue to ensure absolute and responsive security surveillance that would guarantee security of lives and property in the state even as he lauded the efforts of the public in information gathering and sued for continued support in that regard.
