NWFL Postpones Women Amateur League’s Kick Off

The January 20 kick off
date for the Nigeria Women Amateur League (NWFL) competition has been shifted to February 2, 2020.
The secretariat of the Nigeria Women Football League(NWFL) announced the postponement of commencement date the competition, Friday.
The Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Alhaji Ayo Abdulrahman, said this in a statement from Abuja, that, the postponement was at the instance of some of the amateur clubs, who complained about the short notice for registration, especially at the beginning of a new year where it’s difficult to bring players together.
Ayo Abdulrahman, in full consultation with the Amateur League Coordinator, Joe Amene, announced the extension of the registration deadline from January 16 to January 29, 2020.
According to Abdulrahman’s statement from Abuja: “In view of the complaints from some Women Amateur League Clubs based on time constraint sighting short notice for the registration and commencement of the Nigeria Women Amateur League as it would be difficult for the clubs to assemble their players within such period of time, the Board of Nigeria Women Football League has graciously granted an extension of the registration deadline to 29th January, 2020 while the commencement of the Amateur League is now scheduled to hold between 2nd and 6th February, 2020 instead of the earlier date, January 20 to 27, 2020.
“In view of this development therefore, all Amateur League Clubs are hereby advised to ensure compliance as the above dates are sacrosanct.
While thanking you for your usual cooperation and understanding, please accept the assurances of our highest sporting regards.”
