IGP Unveils Anti-Cultism Programme
The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Mohammed Adamu, has concluded arrangement to roll out full-scale anti-cultism advocacy and sensitisation activities in all the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The National Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV),Mr Ebere Amaraizu disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday in Enugu.
His words, “POCACOV, the initiative of I-G Adamu, will be launched and to be deployed nationally by the I-G himself on February 27 in an epoch making event that would take place at the International Conference Centre, FCT, Abuja,’’ he said.
According to him, the event will witness the bringing together of broad spectrum of different stakeholders.
“This is with a view to raising awareness and galvanising stakeholders’ support to reduce the menace and incidences of cultism, substance abuse, associated violence and other vices in our communities in line with community-oriented policing tenets,’’ he said.
Amaraizu further hinted that POCACOV is having strong collaboration with Matchmakers Consult headed by Shina Philips for a smooth and effective event.
Our correspondent recalls that POCACOV programme was flagged-off nationally last year in Enugu by the I-G.
