2020 UTME: JAMB Suspends Registration In 243 Centres
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of the ongoing registration exercise for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 243 centres across the country.
The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who disclosed this to newsmen last Wednesday, in Lagos, said the suspension of the exercise in the affected centres is to allow the board conduct a third party recruitment examination, scheduled for yesterday.
He said: “The reason for the suspension of the exercise in the 243 centres nationwide by the board is that the centres are likely going to be used for third-party recruitment examination and we do not want to create any overcrowding.
“However, the registration exercise will resume again in those centres nationwide, on January 17.
“The board regrets any inconvenience the suspension might have caused the candidates.”
Benjamin added that the list of the affected centres was on the board’s website www.jamb.gov.ng.
The registration of candidates for this year’s Computer- Based Test (CBT) commenced nationwide on January 13.
In a related development, four agents of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been arrested by the examination body.
They were arrested for selling the ePINS for the ongoing 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Direct Entry (DE) registrations above the stipulated amount.
The suspects were identified as Abdulrazak Adiza, Mathew Joe, Obekee Godday and Inyang Patrick.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who confirmed the arrest in a statement said the cost of the ePINs is N3500 while that of the reading text is N500.
He added that any outlet caught selling the ePINS higher than the prescribed amount would be sanctioned immediately.
