Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, has promised to initiate measures to get his constituents reconnected to the national grid.
He gave the assurance in a statement signed by his media aide, Olumide Akinrinlola, and made available to The Tide’s source in Okitipupa yesterday.
Tofowomo, who was still recuperating from a ghastly motor accident, regretted that several communities in the area were thrown into darkness after  being disconnected due to unpaid accumulated bill.
He assured the affected communities that he would do everything within his power to fulfill his electioneering promise to them.
He said that he would use his good offices to ensure that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) repaired the damaged electrical cables in Ode-Aye and other communities for immediate restoration of power to the area.
The source reports that most parts of the district has been in darkness for almost a decade since they  were disconnected.
The legislator commended the Niger Delta Power Holding Company for fixing the damaged 33KVA power plant in Ilaje.
“Many communities have been backward economically and socially because of power outage they were plunged into for almost a decade.
“I have visited the Omotosho Power Plant twice to ensure Ondo South gets electricity supply directly from Omotosho, instead of Ondo town.
“I have lobbied all the concerned parties to ensure that BEDC repairs the damaged electrical cables in communities already being reconnected and also meter them.
“Although I am still recuperating from a ghastly motor accident, I remain resolute and committed to my electioneering promises,” Tofowomo said.
He promised to work with relevant authorities to reconnect the district to the national grid.
The lawmaker, who praised the “Bring Back Our Light” group for championing the cause of electricity restoration to the area, appealed to the people to exercise patience with the system.
