The Director of Sports in the Students Union Government (SUG) in Rivers State University (RSU), Comrade Wisdom Okereke, has debunked the allegation that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Opuenbo Owei,  proscribed sporting activities in the institution.
He cleared the air by saying that there was no such law from the school authority, as sporting activities are at its peak in the institution.
Okereke said this at the weekend in an exclusive interview with Tidesports shortly after a training session of the School Football team (RSU Dolphin) at the institution football field.
He explained that the ban was for non-students coming from out to use the school sports facilities.
“Acting VC did not stop sporting activities in the institution but only restricted non students who used the institution as their training ground,” Okereke said.
It may interest you to know that there were rumours going round that the acting VC ban sporting activities in the University.
He commended the school authority on the development of sports in the institution, saying that they are ready to support the authority in terms of sports development.
