Moribund Ahoada Industrial Zone would soon come on stream, courtesy of the Ahoada East Local Government Council.
The new plan is to attract economic activities and provide jobs in the area.
The Chairman of the council, Barrister Benjamin Eke, who spoke during the unveiling of the Edoha Market built by the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Edison Ehie, last Monday, said that already, work has commenced on the project.
He also said that contracts for the construction of 13 water projects in the area have been awarded, stating that the aim was to make the local government area hub of business.
In addition to that, he hinted of building the Upata District Office as a way to bring development closer to the people of the area.
He added, “We have also started working to reconstruct the entrance into Ahoada Town, and it will go along with the beautification project to make the town conducive.”
The Ahoada East Council boss said he was poised to transform the area by engaging 100 young persons for sanitation and cleaning of the environment.
Calling on the people to support the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike, the council boss assured the people that the government was poised to transform Rivers State.
Eke praised Ehie for the numerous projects executed in the area, especially the market at Edoha, which he said, would reduce the plight of the community.
