A novelty football match between Old Boys of Okrika Grammar School (OGS) and Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt will take place today at Sharks Football Club Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The encounter is part of week-long activities to mark the 80th anniversary of OGS.
Speaking to Tidesports in an exclusive interview, the coordinator of the programme, Daso Derefaka , said the anniversary is basically to bring Old Boys together and discuss issues concerning the school.
According to him, the activities include Public Lecture, Dinner Party and thanksgiving on Sunday.
“This anniversary is actually to bring Old Boys together who passed through school, where old friends and classmate will see themselves once again”, Derefaka said.
Speaking, the national publicity secretary of the association, Barry Eka said the novelty match is also to make members mentally and physically fit.
Eka, who is also the sports coordinator of the association, explained that OGS was known for sporting activities in those days. Apart from that, the anniversary is another way to unite Old Boys of the school.
“The novelty game generally is to keep fit and bring old friends together. I will be very happy to see old players of the school, I mean players that actually made the school proud,” Eka said.
