Lawmaker Decries Killings Along Numan-Jalingo Road
The Deputy Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly and member representing Numan Constituency, Hon Pwamwakaino Mackondo, has urged the Nigeria Police to halt constant attacks and killings around the Numan end of the Numan-Jalingo highway in Numan Local Government Area of the state.
The deputy speaker, in a press statement obtained at the weekend, called attention to an attack last week by suspected armed robbers who killed two people along the road, as well as an attack on Thursday by bandits who shot and wounded seven people.
Hon Pwamwakaino condemned the frequent attacks near the village of Dowaya along the road and asked for proactive measures by the police to curb the trend.
The Tide’s source learnt yesterday that armed robbers last week barricaded the road and robbed businessmen returning from a local market, killing two people and injuring several others.
The bandits were said to have again struck towards the weekend, on Thursday night, when they allegedly barricaded the road and shot seven people, said to be receiving treatment now at an undisclosed hospital in Numan.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed Sunday afternoon that two people died in the hands of bandits last week, and that some others were wounded on Thursday night.
