We Are Committed To Universal Healthcare, RSG Affirms

The Rivers State Government says it is committed to establish universal health care for all residents in the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo stated this at the 4th Quarterly Meeting of the State Task Force on Immunization and Primary Health Care at the Government House in Port Harcourt, last Monday.
The deputy governor, who disclosed that the state immunization indices has improved significantly, expressed the need for re-orientation of health workers to do more on counselling of young children and nutrition.
According to her, the incinerator to dispose of empty vaccine vials was now functional while an order to procure fire extinguishers for health facilities across the state has been placed.
Banigo, who harped on the need to put up the attitude of talking more about family planning to clients all the time said, “There is no reason why any teenager should get pregnant; they should remain in school, get skills before they should be ripe for marriage. So, we need to talk more about these things”.
She thanked members of the Task Force on Immunization and Primary Health Care for their dedication to serve the state, and lauded the public enlightenment committee for their efforts.
