The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo says thanksgiving is a life time event and not a one off occurrence. Banigo stated this during the 2019 Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Service of Christ Church, Forces Avenue, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Represented at the event by her Senior Special Assistant, Barrister Inegogo Fubara, the deputy governor said that “in all things we should give thanks because it shows gratitude to God for all His benefits towards us.
“Thanksgiving should be a lifestyle for us. Every day, we must thank God for the fact that we are alive and in good health, for our children for His divine protection. There is so much to thank Him for. That is why we are here today to thank God”, Banigo added.
According to her, the Rivers State Government under the watch of Governor Nyesom Wike would continue to partner with the church and support church activities, having declared Rivers State a 100 per cent Christian state with no apologies to anyone who may have been offended by the remark.
The deputy governor, who congratulated the harvest committee for a job well done, described Christ Church as a family church for her, which brings back lots of fond memories, noting that it was always a delight to be in God’s presence.
Speaking on the theme, ”I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing”, drawn from 2 Samuel 24:24-25, the Resident Minister and Chairman of the Church Council, Ven Saturday Nbete, who said nothing given to God was too big, disclosed that the Almighty God demands commitment from all, stressing that, “until we understand commitment, our love for God cannot be complete”.
