SWAN President Promises Sports Writers Fair Deal
The re-elected President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Honour Sirawoo, has said that he will continue to develop sports writing fraternity.
He promised to place training and retraining of its members on the front burner of his administration.
Sirawoo said this while briefing sports journalists shortly after he took oath of office for his second tenure , on Monday at the auditorium of Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, Moscow road, in Port Harcourt.
“ We are going to insert discipline in SWAN. SWAN is going to be independent because we have registered as corporate organisation” Sirawoo said.
The returnee President described the election as free and fair, saying that the SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO) conducted the election according to the SWAN statues.
According to him, the newly elected Exco will lead the association to the promise land adding that the members of the organization should always bear in mind that there will be challenges.
“We will sustain all our programmes we have put together in our first tenure. Besides, we are going to change the things that will not make the association to grow” he stated.
Sirawoo noted that journalism has gone beyond the traditional practice of print and electronic media, saying that currently there are on line media, which the association would accommodate.
“ We must follow the trend and accommodate the online media practitioners, all we need is to have a professional certificate.
We are ready to serve and make any sacrifice to take SWAN to the next level.
