Monarch Advocates Development Of Rivers Tourism Sector
Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, has described Rivers State as a hub of the tourism industry in Nigeria.
Stating this in an interview with newsmen during an excursion visit to the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park by some government recognized traditional rulers in the state, the Royal Father, who is also the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, said Rivers State has a lot to contribute to the country in tourism.
He specifically said the internationally acclaimed Opobo boat Regatta, the wrestling festival of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, the Ifoko beach, and other rich tourism potentials can be harnessed by government to boost the tourism sector of the State.
King Jaja said the decision by Ethiopian Airlines to commence Flights into Port Harcourt means that more people will be coming in and out of Port Harcourt daily, stressing that the construction of the pleasure Park shows that Governor Wike has the foresight in opening up the tourism sector of the State for the people.
According to the Royal Father, the excursion has afforded the traditional ruler the opportunity to feel the ambience of the pleasure.
He said the exercise will make them to be fully refreshed and equipped for the challenges ahead and called on the people to support the administration of Governor Wike.
