Female Journalists Move To Improve Women’s Leadership Skills
Women journalists yesterday in Rabat set up a Network of Women Leaders of African News Agencies (NWLFAAPA) to promote exchange of experience and skills in the field of women’s leadership.
The Tide’s source reports that the network was created at the ongoing seminar on leadership enhancement’’ for women from 20 African news agencies.
The five-day event which began last Monday, aims at developing women’s skills, strengthening their knowledge and leadership abilities for effective running of their organisations toward addressing the challenges being faced by the continent.
The seminar is being organised by the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) with the theme: “Women’s Leadership: Needs and Strategies of African News Agencies”, at the African Centre for the Training of Journalists.
It is hosted by the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).
The participants, comprised journalists, editors and executive officers from Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia, Togo, Cape Verde, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Morocco, among others.
The NWLFAAPA also aims to organise seminars and thematic symposia under FAAPA, in partnership with organisations and institutions at Africa and international levels.
