Ex-Boxer Calls For Experienced Coach
Ex- boxer in Nigeria, Godwin Eppelle, has appealed to the appropriate authorities to appoint an experienced boxing coach to head the affairs of the sports in Nigeria, most especially in Rivers State.
Epelle, an indigene of Rivers State, stated that if experienced persons were not given the opportunity to handle the affairs of boxing, it is bound to fail.
He made the assertion, yesterday, shortly after his training session to mark the 59th independence celebration of Nigeria at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
The former boxer noted that boxing was improving tremendously in other States, but had no bearing in Rivers State.
“ It is time to get an experienced boxing coach to handle the sport in the state. If the right coaches are given the opportunity there will be no more hiring of athletes from other States to represent the state in competitions, Epelle stated.
He equally said that there was need for government to establish boxing academy in our schools to discover young boxing talents.
