Chiefs Assure Police, Security Agencies Of Support
The Igwuruta Council of Chiefs has assured the police command in the area and other security agencies of maximum support and cooperation in discharging their constitutional duties.
The council made the declaration while playing host to the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Emmanuel Deebor who paid a courtesy visit to the palace at Igwuruta over the weekend.
The council gave the assurance through the Paramount Ruler and Nyenweali Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Eze Prof. Samuel Wekhe.
Responding, the new DPO, CSP Emmanuel Deebor said he visited the Council of Chiefs to seek their cooperation in combating crime in the area.
Deebor said his arrival as the new DPO would change things and turn around the security situation in Igwuruta, emphasising the need for cooperation among the nine communities in Igwuruta.
He advised Igwuruta Community to embrace the community policing by forming vigilante groups as a way of assisting in eradicating crime in the neighborhood, and assured that there would be no hiding place for criminal elements.
He said the police command was ever ready to reduce the crime rate.
The new DPO said they were pleased with the support the Ikwerre council chairman, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike had given to security agents.
He applauded the chairman for the warm reception accorded him, and remarked that the council had, however, maintained cordial relationship with the police and other security apparatus posted to the area.
Eze Wekhe said the new DPO had shown his readiness to work with the Igwuruta community for a better environment devoid of crime.
