Bayelsa Poll: PDP Aspirant Speaks On Dumping Party For APC
The intervention of security operatives forestalled an attack on the residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole.
Youths had stormed his house chanting songs, ‘Oshiomhole Ole (Thief) Oshiomhole Ole (thief)’ but were dispersed by anti-riot policemen.
A report quoted Chief Press Secretary to Oshiomhole, Simon Ebegbulem, as saying the thugs were allegedly sent by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media, Crusoe Osagie, debunked the allegation against his principal.
“The Edo State Government has said it has absolutely no knowledge of the purported attack on the person or the residence of former Governor of the state and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
“We have no knowledge of the attack. We have also reached out to the Police, and they affirmed that they do not know about such an attack.”
In his reaction, Police Commissioner, Danmallam Abubakar, said: “It is a lie. There was no attack. Nothing happened in the area where Oshiomhole lives.”
Bayelsa guber: PDP aspirant speaks on dumping party for APC
A former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Bayelsa State, Anthony George-Ikoli on Friday said he would not quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who described politics as a service to humanity, is among the PDP National Campaign Councils for Bayelsa and Kogi States.
He spoke to newsmen in Abuja yesterday.
George-Ikoli, an aspirant in the recently concluded governorship primary in Bayelsa State, believes that history is on the side of the PDP and that the people are not in a hurry to swap PDP for an uncertain opposition party.
He said, ‘’I have been in PDP since 1999 and this is the second time I am contesting elections under our party’s flag. If I didn’t leave the party then, I don’t think it would be prudent to do so now.
