Youth Profiling, Ideal Security Measures – Monarch
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike’s directive for profiling of youth organisations in the state with the Department of State Services (DSS) before operation has been described as an ideal security initiative.
A trsditional ruler, King Leslie N. Eke, said this when he spoke in an interview with newsmen, Monday at his palace in Woji in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Eze Eke noted that the governor’s directive would tremendously improve security situation of the state, which he said had risen to considerable height.
According to him, the Governor Wike’s order, will smoke out some miscreants who have been masquerading under the cover of youth bodies.
The Eze Woji/Nyerisi Eli Woji, maintained that the state governor was only out to right the wrongs and to deliver in line with his electoral promises.
He also called on youth organisations in the state to see it as a way of improving on youth bodies for better functioning and integration into government programmes and policies.
The Eze Gbakagbaka, also charged the youths to ensure that they comply with the governor so as to provide a smooth platform for their association.
To buttress his point, he said that since most crimes were committed by young people, any form of check on them, would go a long in curbing crime.
On the part of the DSS, he stressed the need to do a thorough work and not to compromise at any point.
He noted that any form of compromise on the side of the DSS, would not only jeopardize the system, but would cause a traumatic security situation in the state.
The Eze Oha Evo III of Kingdom further urged all residents of the state to join hands with the governor to fight insecurity and restiveness.
He, however, expressed satisfaction over the present administration, especially in the areas of care for security operatives and the overhauling of the state.
