The Chief coach of Shooting sport, in Rivers State, Mary Ikpeanzaeze has expressed joy as one of our athletes won silver medal at the ongoing Fifth National Youth Games(NYG), in Ilorin, Kwara State.
She stated that clinching a silver medal is an achievement to Team Rivers following the circumstances that surrounded their attendance of the games.
Ikpeanzaeze said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports shortly after one of her athletes won silver medal in  raffle shooting event, on Saturday, saying it was not easy to win.
She called on the Federal Ministry of  Youth and Sports Development to formulate a proper screening process that would not create any ill feelings.  According to  her, the screening process does not have a clear standard, because some over aged athletes were screened in to participate.
“ I am happy that the State got silver medal in shooting. I give God the glory. I also used this forum to call on the authorities to formulate a proper screening process so that the games will achieve its purpose “ Ikpeazaeze said.
This is the first shooting sport featured in NYG  and ten states participated.
As at press time Team Rivers has won three medals, one silver in cycling, one silver in shooting and a bronze in Karate.
