Parents Urge RSG To Release Approved Private Schools’ List

As the next academic session begins next week, some parents have appealed to the Rivers State Government to release the list of approved private primary and secondary schools in the state.
Some of the parents, who spoke to our correspondent in Port Harcourt, over the weekend, said prompt release of the government approved schools would guide their preparations.
One of the parents, Madam Clarice Jona, said, ”It is obvious that not all the schools that sort for re-approval, as demanded by the state government, may succeed, so the earlier the list is released the better because schools will reopen next week” .
Jona, a widow with three daughters, explained that one of her daughters that is due for secondary school could not write the common entrance exams to enable her gain admission into a public school, and therefore, called on government to release the list of approved schools.
“There are good number of private schools around Mile Two where we reside, but I don’t know which one to approach. My fear is that she may gain admission in a school that may not scale through the exercise at last”, she said.
Another parent, Mr Bassey Sunday, also urged the state government to release the list of approved schools so that he can secure admission for his children.
