Okorocha Vs Ihedioha: Rep Urges Focus On Good Governance
A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Chike Okafor (APC-Imo), has urged Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State to concentrate on governance and leave former Governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha alone.
Okafor made the call while addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja after he was sworn-in as member of the green chambers at the plenary.
“I want to settle down in the 9th Assembly, I do not want to dabble into local politics back home.
“But I will say without any fear of contradiction, that it is my wish that the governor in my state settles down and face issues of governance and leave out the man who had handed over to him.
“This is my position, I wish Ihedioha settled down to face the challenging issues in the state and leave Okorocha alone,” he said.
Reacting to the judgment of the Court of Appeal which upheld his election, Okafor said that the ‘strong voice’ of his constituency was back.
The Rep. who represents Ehime Mbano/Ihite Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo, said that he would continue to speak for the constituency in the 9th Assembly as he did in the 8th Assembly.
“My people will confirm that I represented that constituency very well even as a first time member and that is the major reason they voted for me overwhelmingly to return to the 9th Assembly.
“To my constituents I will say the strong voice is back and will continue to speak to represents Ehime Mbano/Ihite Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly by the grace of God,” he said.
On his victory at the Court of Appeal, the lawmaker said that he could only thank God for the victory.
He thanked the leadership of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leadership of the House of Representatives for standing by him while his election was being challenged in court.
