NYG: ‘Team Rivers Sure To Make Statement’
Rivers State Director of Sports, Mildred Data-Hart, has said that Team Rivers will make a statement at the ongoing 5th National Youth Games (NYG) holding in Ilorin, Kwara State.
She further commended the Governor of the State, Chief Nyesom Wike for the approval and release of funds to attend the competition.
According to her, the competition will expose Rivers athletes to limelight as most of them have vowed to make the state proud.
“ I sincerely thank our Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for the release of funds to attend the competition.
“This actually demonstrates that he is indeed a sports loving governor, no wonder he was given the award of Power of Sports( POS) in Africa” Hart said.
Tidesports learnt that fears had gripped other athletes as Team Rivers arrived the competition venue, knowing the capacity of Team Rivers.
Speaking, the Public Relations Officer, Chioma Christopher, said Team Rivers will not disappoint Rivers people in the tournament, in spite its late arrival.
“ As I speak I am optimistic that our athletes will win medals in all the events they will participate in,” he said.
Christopher, who is also the festival secretary in the sports council urged athletes to play by the rules of the game.
